Fame can be a nightmare...

Bernie and The Deadbeats

Fabulous artwork - the cover and inside the book. (young adult science fiction & of course up, up and up some more into the double digits) I love looking behind the scenes into authors lives. JP (James) Mackey has dedicated this book to his parents for instilling a love of music in him. He doesn't think he inherited their talents in music but I am going to bet that he did. :)

The story is about  Bernard, a high-school student who moves into his grandfather's creepy old abandoned house, which turns out to have a rock and roll group squatting in the basement. He  wouldn't mind so much except they all happen to be... monsters.

'When Bernard Mullens had to start over at a new school, all he wanted was to find a group of friends with whom to fit in. Little did he know what sort of group he would end up with. Now all he wants is that it won't be his last. ' (back cover description)

In author JP Mackey's own words,
I began Bernie and The Deadbeats in 2008 as a sort of counter-point to the emerging horror trend, more of a coming-of-age / humorous look at all the vampire and zombie stories and movies coming out... the thought of musically inclined monsters seemed like a good combination.

Great writing here - Wanted to share photo's of the first page to give this book the attention it deserves. I know my brothers will like this!
